An evidence analysis framework for value analysis professionals: The perfect bridge to engage clinical and executive peers.

Diane Robertson

Ms. Robertson directs ECRI Institute’s Health Technology Assessment and ECRIgene Information Services. For 24 years, she has led ECRI Institute health services research projects on drugs, devices, procedures, care processes, and behavioral health interventions. This work gives her deep insight into the healthcare landscape and factors affecting healthcare technology adoption and implementation. The analyses her teams publish support evidence-based decision making by health systems, payers, and government agencies in the U.S. and abroad. From 2010 to early 2016, she also served as Project Manager to create and operate the largest healthcare technology horizon scanning system worldwide, funded by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. She has served as an expert panel member on FDA medical technology forecasting panels. An author and co-author of peer-reviewed and trade journal articles, she speaks at conferences and leads workshops on technology assessment, horizon scanning, and evidence-based decision making in healthcare.

Elke S. Nelson-Nichols, Ph.D.

Dr. Nelson-Nichols currently serves as Assistant Director, Strategic Initiatives, for ECRI Institute’s Health Technology Assessment and ECRIgene Information Services. She joined ECRI Institute's Health Technology Forecast team in 2011 to create content on new drugs, devices, and procedures on the horizon, eventually managing that team for several years. In 2017, she assumed a more strategic role to work in the field directly with value analysis teams as well as third-party payers. She also contributes to new product initiatives, business development, and speaks about health technology assessment methods and concepts to value analysis professionals in various conference venues. She is currently in an executive MBA program at Penn State University. She earned a PhD in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Iowa.
