Posted By Administration, Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Dee Donatelli Consulting, LLC and the Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) Announce World-Renowned Faculty for Inaugural Value Analysis Apex

Industry leaders join together to offer unique opportunity for supplier sales and marketing executives to understand inner workings of hospital value analysis processes

Newton, KS – January 16, 2019 – Dee Donatelli Consulting, LLC, in conjunction with the Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP), is pleased to announce the faculty for the upcoming Value Analysis Apex (VAApex™) event, being held March 7-8, 2019 at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, TX.

The faculty features five of the world’s foremost experts on Value Analysis, coming together from leading healthcare provider organizations to work with supplier sales and marketing executives in a hand’s on, interactive environment, featuring a mock Value Analysis Committee meeting, highly focused round table discussions, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into hospital Value Analysis processes.

Faculty members include:

  • Terri Nelson BSN, RN, MA, Director, Value Analysis - Mayo Clinic
  • Barbara Strain, MA, CVAHP, Director of Value Management - University of Virginia Health System
  •  Gloria Graham, DNP, RN, CVAHP, Clinical Value Analyst - Cincinnati Children’s
  •  Robin L. Lane, BSN, RN, MBA, CVAHP, Senior Manager of Value Analysis - UPMC
  •  Dee Donatelli, MBA, BSN, CMRP, CVAHP, Founder & Principal, Dee Donatelli Consulting

The VAApex forum has been designed to help executives from healthcare supplier organizations advance their approach to selling products, devices and services into hospitals. “The need to improve cost and quality, and understand patient outcomes, has driven healthcare organizations to increase the reach of their Value Analysis programs,” said Dee Donatelli, Dee Donatelli Consulting. “For suppliers, this means their customer has changed, and they need new approaches and strategies to succeed. Previously, a supplier might sell their products or devices directly to a surgeon or a materials manager within a hospital. Today, a cohesive VA process brings together cross-functional experts to make decisions that support delivery of the highest quality patient care at the optimal price. It’s this process that the VAApex forum has been designed to address.  We will help supplier executives understand how to work within VA processes, toward the goal of their organization succeeding in having products accepted for use.”

Building understanding of the Value Analysis process will help supplier executives refine their sales and marketing programs and prepare their teams for success, creating mutually beneficial relationships with their customers and supporting the shared goal of delivering the safest and most cost-effective patient care.

VAApex attendees will gain visibility to key elements of the value analysis process,” said Barbara Strain, University of Virginia Health System. “This approach is aimed to provide informative interactions that will set the stage for streamlined, meaningful initiatives that yield a high quality of care at a reasonable cost.  Keeping the patient at the center of all we do leads to mutual success.”

John Pritchard, President and CEO, Share Moving Media, which provides numerous publications and meetings, and the Association of National Account Executives (ANAE) professional association for healthcare suppliers, said “Supplier business leaders are focused on how they can work most effectively with their customers. They’re committed to being good business partners and share the mutual goal of delivering the best products at the best prices, in order to support high quality, cost-effective patient care. I see the VAApex event bringing together provider and supplier leaders to build new ways to work together effectively, sharing insights about Value Analysis processes that will help suppliers succeed in an environment where the goals remain the same, but processes have changed.”

Registration for the inaugural VAApex™ event is now open and is limited. This unique event will be structured in an intimate conversational setting – eliminating all Powerpoint to stimulate greater interaction among faculty and participants, and deliver the greatest return on investment for attendees. To register for the VAApex event on March 7-8, 2019, please visit or

Dee Donatelli added to Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership Board

Our Congratulations to member and Past President, Dee Donatelli , who has been appointed to the Bellwether League Inc. Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership.  The following is an excerpt from the article that appeared in the May 18th issue of HPN Daily.

Bellwether League Inc., the Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership welcomed a new executive to its Board of Directors that evaluate, validate and select professionals to be recognized and honored for their industry contributions, performance and vision, and two corporate sustaining sponsors at the highest level of support.

Dee Donatelli joins Bellwether League's Board to select Bellwether Class Honorees, Future Famers and Ammer-Level Supply Chain Organizations within the industry with a clear understanding of the Hall of Fame's impact on the profession and industry.

"Bellwether League's mission is to bring to light the efforts of influencers, innovators, pioneers and the risk takers that have helped and continue to mold the healthcare supply chain profession," Donatelli said. "There is no greater honor than to be recognized by your peers and designated a Bellwether.  The respect that Bellwether holds in the industry is the paramount recognition for professionals in supply chain.  The legacy Bellwethers leave in the healthcare field is worthy to record and to be recognized throughout generations to come."

Donatelli currently serves as the principal of her own consulting practice that specializes in clinically integrating the supply chain among provider and supplier organizations. During her nearly 40-year career in healthcare operations as a nurse and supply chain executive, she focused on clinically integrated value analysis processes that involved physician collaboration using clinical evidence as the driver for effective cost management programs.

"The privilege to serve on the Bellwether Board is a great responsibility and one that I take very seriously.  The recording and recognition of key contributors in our field is something that is important and serves as a historical reminder of the dedication and accomplishment that individuals have made in healthcare's supply chain.

"As we continue to honor individuals for their achievements we have a significant responsibility to continue to enhance the value of healthcare's supply chain," Donatelli continued. "I believe that those Bellwethers past and future have an ongoing responsibility to network and continue to drive change and innovation in our field. As a new BOD member I hope to influence professionals in our industry to continue to work to achieve better and more cost-effective outcomes for the patients we serve and the industry we love."
